Holy Hour of Our Lady of Prompt Succor for our Nation

OPENING PRAYERS

(This Holy Hour may be printed and prayed in a group or alone, preferably in a church or chapel, before the Blessed Sacrament whether reserved in a monstrance or tabernacle. The text may be completed in 30 mins or less, however, silence should be observed to foster greater contemplation of the Divine Presence, completing the hour)

+ In the Name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Come, O Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Send forth Your Spirit, and they shall be created.

And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O God, Who did instruct the hearts of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us in the same Spirit to be truly wise and ever to rejoice in His consolation, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, you are after Jesus our only hope. O Most Holy Virgin, whose merits have raised you high above angel choirs to the very throne of the Eternal and whose foot crushed the head of the infernal serpent, you are strong against the enemies of our salvation. O Mother of God, you are our Mediatrix most kind and loving. Hasten, then, to our help, and as you did once save your beloved City from ravaging flames and our Country from an alien foe, do now have pity on our misery, and obtain for us the graces we beg of you.

Deliver us from the wiles of Satan; assist us in the many trials which beset our path in this valley of tears, and be to us truly Our Lady of Prompt Succor now and especially at the hour of our death. Amen.

O Mary, Mother of God, who amid the tribulations of the world, watches over us and over the Church of Your Son, be to us and to the Church, truly, Our Lady of Prompt Succor; make haste to help us in all our necessities, that in this fleeting life, You may be our succor, and obtain for us...................

(Make your intentions to Our Lady for the nation)

Help us to gain life everlasting through the merits of Jesus, Your Son, Our Lord and Redeemer. Amen.

Our Lady of Prompt Succor….Hasten to help us. (3x)

PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray, and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan, and all the evil spirits, who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

All Holy Men and Women of America – Pray for us

A SMALL PSALTER AND SCRIPTURE READING

+ O God come to my assistance

Lord make haste to help me

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, a world without end. Amen. Alleluia

Antiphon 1:  A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children.

Psalm 22

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
You are far from my plea and the cry of my distress.
O my God, I call by day and you give no reply;
I call by night and I find no peace.

Yet you, O God, are holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel.
In you our fathers put their trust;
they trusted and you set them free.
When they cried to you, they escaped.
In you they trusted and never in vain.

But I am a worm and no man,
scorned by men, despised by the people.
All who see me deride me.
They curl their lips, they toss their heads.
"He trusted in the Lord, let him save him;
let him release him if this is his friend."

Yes, it was you who took me from the womb,
entrusted me to my mother's breast.
To you I was committed from my birth,
from my mother's womb you have been my God.
Do not leave me alone in my distress;
Come close, there is none else to help.

Many bulls have surrounded me,
fierce bulls of Bashan close me in.
Against me they open wide their jaws,
like lions, rending and roaring.

Like water I am poured out,
disjointed are all my bones.
My heart has become like wax,
it is melted within my breast.

Parched as burnt clay is my throat,
my tongue cleaves to my jaws.

Many dogs have surrounded me,
a band of the wicked beset me.
They tear holes in my hands and my feet
and lay me in the dust of death.

I can count every one of my bones.
These people stare at me and gloat;
they divide my clothing among them.
They cast lots for my robe.

O Lord, do not leave me alone,
my strength, make haste to help me!
Rescue my soul from the sword,
my life from the grip of these dogs.
Save my life from the jaws of these lions,
my poor soul from the horns of these oxen.

I will tell of your name to my brethren
and praise you where they are assembled.

"You who fear the Lord give him praise;
all sons of Jacob, give him glory.
Revere him, Israel's sons.

For he has never despised
nor scorned the poverty of the poor.
From him he has not hidden his face,
but he heard the poor man when he cried."

You are my praise in the great assembly.
My vows I will pay before those who fear him.
The poor shall eat and shall have their fill.
They shall praise the Lord, those who seek him.
May their hearts live for ever and ever!

All the earth shall remember and return to the Lord,
all families of the nations worship before him;
for the kingdom is the Lord's, he is ruler of the nations.
They shall worship him, all the mighty of the earth;
before him shall bow all who go down to the dust.

And my soul shall live for him, my children serve him.
They shall tell of the Lord to generations yet to come,
declare his faithfulness to peoples yet unborn:
These things the Lord has done.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, a world without end. Amen.

Antiphon 1:  A voice was heard in Ramah, wailing and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children.

Antiphon 2: On the lips of children and of babes, O God, you have found praise to silence the foe

Daniel 3:26-41

Blessed are you, and praiseworthy,

O Lord, the God of our fathers,

and glorious forever is your name.

For you are just in all you have done;

all your deeds are faultless, all your ways right, and all

your judgments proper.

For we have sinned and transgressed

by departing from you,

and we have done every kind of evil.

For your name's sake, do not deliver us up forever, or

make void your covenant.

Do not take away your mercy from us, for the sake of

Abraham, your beloved, Isaac your servant, and Israel

your holy one,

To whom you promised to multiply their offspring like

the stars of heaven, or the sand on the shore of the sea.

For we are reduced, O Lord, beyond any other nation,

brought low everywhere in the world this day because of our sins.

We have in our day no prince, prophet, or leader, no

holocaust, sacrifice, oblation, or incense, no place to

offer first fruits, to find favor with you.

But with a contrite heart and humble spirit

let us be received;

As though it were holocausts of rams and bullocks, or

thousands of fat lambs,

So let our sacrifice be in your presence today as we

follow you unreservedly; for those who trust in you

cannot be put to shame.

And now we follow you with our whole heart, we fear you and we pray to you.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit

As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, a world without end. Amen.

Antiphon 2: On the lips of children and of babes, O God, you have found praise to silence the foe

Antiphon 3:  Lord, avenge the blood of your saints which has been shed, for every day, they cry to you

Psalm 130

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord,
Lord, hear my voice!
O let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleading.

If you, O Lord, should mark our guilt,
Lord, who would survive?
But with you is found forgiveness:
for this we revere you.

My soul is waiting for the Lord.
I count on his word.
My soul is longing for the Lord
more than watchman for daybreak.
Let the watchman count on daybreak
and Israel on the Lord.

Because with the Lord there is mercy
and fullness of redemption,
Israel indeed he will redeem
from all its iniquity.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, a world without end. Amen.

Antiphon 3:  Lord, avenge the blood of your saints which has been shed, for every day, they cry to you

A READING FROM THE EPISTLE OF ST. PAUL TO THE COLOSSIANS (Colossians 3:12-1

And so, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. And beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

The Word of the Lord……Thanks be to God

THE PATRIOT’S PRAYER

We, the grateful people of the United States of America, give thanks to you O Lord, for blessing our sovereign nation. We respond to your call to continue to form a more perfect union, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all persons are created, conceived, and born equal, entitling them to respect under the laws of Nature, Your eternal law, and divine law.

At this time, we ask that you direct and protect our nation against evil. Help us to persevere in truth with humility, prudence, and integrity. With compassion, mercy, and selfless generosity, allow us to champion those less fortunate than ourselves, especially the most vulnerable of our society.

Make us uncompromising in protecting all our inalienable rights: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, free from the abuses of the powers of the purse, the pen, and/or the sword. Enlighten us with a right and true conscience, which finds its freedom only in your law and give us the courage and the strength to act upon it.

In the spirit of our Forefathers, we pray:

Direct, we beg you, O Lord, our actions by your holy inspirations, and carry them on by your gracious assistance, that every prayer and work of ours may begin always with you, and through you be happily ended. Amen.

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee we cry out, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary,

V. Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, pray for us.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us Pray:

O God, whose Only-Begotten Son, by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that by meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

V. May the Divine Assistance remain always with us.

R. And may the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

ACT OF CONSECRATION OF THE UNITED STATES TO OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR

Our Lady of Prompt Succor, who art always anxious for the salvation of thy children, we kneel before thee today to secure thy protection for our beloved Country. America has long enjoyed thy special protection, and thou hast come to her rescue, during the battle of New Orleans in 1815, when General Jackson came to the Ursuline Sisters,  seeking your assistance through their prayers, to save our young country, during that time of need.

Beloved Mother, the crisis facing our Nation today is even more urgent. Thy Divine Son, His Holy Church, and thyself O Virgin Mary are openly blasphemed. Fully aware that Jesus Christ has entrusted the peace of the world to thy loving Heart, we come with complete confidence to thy throne to implore thy blessing and grace upon us.

Trusting in the Love you bear for our country and all its peoples, we, on behalf of each person in our nation, consecrate the United States of America and each one in particular, to your Holy Immaculate Heart, under thy favored title of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. In this spirit, we beg thee not to delay our rescue, but speedily show thy power over our Nation once more! Hasten to restore it to where Thy Divine Son and His Holy Principles are once again our infallible Guides. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen

CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY

Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.

I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the Resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

On the 5 Large Beads of the Rosary, Before Each Decade

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world.

On the 10 Small Beads of Each Decade

For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

Concluding prayer (Repeat three times)

Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world.
