The original devotion of invoking the Theotokos for quick assistance begins in the 10th century with the icon Panagia Gorgoepikoos (Greek., Γοργοεπήκοο) meaning "She who is Quick to Hear"). This icon is housed in Dochiariou Monastery on Mount Athos, Greece, who gifted a copy to the Monastery of St. Tikhon in South Canaan, Pennsylvania, where it is enthroned, surrounded by numerous relics of threads from Her clothing, veil and cincture. The New York OLPS Archconfraternity has a copy of the icon, touched to the one at St. Tikhon with an Vigil Oil Lamp beneath it. An Akathist is sung before this icon. In Richfield Springs, New York, there is a
Convent of the Mother of God Quick to Hear.
