Procedure
To become a Servant (NY OLPS Archconfraternity member), one does not have to reside in New York. Simply email us with your name to
..which we will forward to the Director of the OLPS National Votive Shrine. We will email you, your certificate, once we receive it.
CONFRATERNITY STATUTES
The Confraternity of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, canonically erected on January 8, 1895, was raised to the rank of an Archconfraternity by His Holiness Pope Leo XIII on April 28, 1897. The following statutes were approved:
ARTICLE 1
The Archconfraternity has for its aim:
To place its members under the special protection of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. To spread devotion to Mary under the special title of Our Lady of Prompt Succor. To inspire its associates to evangelize their families and society with Mary as a model of true Gospel values.
ARTICLE II
The conditions of admission into the Archconfraternity
and of participation in its prayers and benefits are:

1) To have one’s name inscribed on the Register of the Archconfraternity and receive a certificate signed by the Director of the National Shrine.

2) To say every morning and evening and in times of temptation or danger, the invocation “Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us!” (Partial indulgence)
ARTICLE III
The special feasts observed by the Archconfraternity are the following:
Feast of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, January 8 (preceded by a Novena or Public Triduum)
Feast of the Annunciation, March 25
Feast of the Assumption, August 15
Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, September 8
Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin, November 21
Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8
ARTICLE IV
On each Saturday:
Members shall pray the prayer to Our Lady of Prompt Succor and
when possible, attend the Saturday Novena Mass at the National Shrine.
ARTICLE V
The seat of the Archconfraternity of Our Lady of Prompt Succor is located at the:
NATIONAL SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF PROMPT SUCCOR,
URSULINE CONVENT, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
Certificates bearing the seal and signature of the Director will be sent to those organizing Confraternities in their areas. These will be affiliated with the Archconfraternity at the Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor.
The Director is appointed by the Most Reverend Archbishop of New Orleans.
ARTICLE VII
Indulgences
A Plenary Indulgence can be gained by members:

1) On the day of admission into the Archconfraternity.
2) At the hour of death, by invoking, at least in desire, the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.
· 3) By visiting the National Shrine in New Orleans of the Church of the local Confraternity on January 8 and on other special feasts designated by the Archconfraternity.
All these indulgences are applicable to the souls in purgatory and may be gained under the ordinary conditions.
