The Icon of the Theotokos, Quick to Hear
While the devotion to Our Lady of Prompt Succor originated with the miraculous statue brought by Mother Marie Gensoul from France to our country, the invocation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, specifically asking for answers to petitions quickly, began in the 10th century with an Eastern Orthodox icon named “THEOTOKOS, SHE WHO IS QUICK TO HEAR”. This icon is housed in Dochiariou Monastery on Mount Athos, Greece.
